Family CLIC

The Family CLIC is a bilingual legal information website designed for families providing legal information on legal issues commonly encountered by families in Hong Kong.

Legal aid is a means by which eligible applicants can obtain the services of a solicitor and, if necessary, a barrister to represent them in proceedings before the courts in Hong Kong. To qualify for legal aid, applicants should pass both the merits test and means test. The homepage of Legal Aid Department has more details.
The Free Legal Advice Scheme provides preliminary one-off legal advice to members of the public as to their legal position in genuine cases. The objective of the Scheme is to enable members of the public having genuine legal problems to have preliminary advice as to their legal position. There is no means test and the service is absolutely free of charge.

The Bar Free Legal Service Scheme aims to provide free legal advice and representation in cases where Legal Aid is not available or where the applicant is unable to afford legal assistance and the case is thought to be one where assistance should be given.
Law firms which are listed in the Free Legal Consultation section have volunteered to provide not exceeding 45 minutes initial free consultation to the public in one or more of the 24 areas of practice.
CLIC is a legal information website funded by the HKSAR Government. It is a quick internet guide for the general public to find relevant legal information in Hong Kong, including marriage, legal aid and bankruptcy & winding-up, etc..
Senior CLIC and Youth CLIC are community legal information websites specially designed for elderly people and youngsters respectively with basic information about the law, crimes, and legal issues which they are interested in, need to know about, and may affect them.
