Employment
The government provides employment services and labour market information to job seekers. NGOs also offer counseling service to job seekers.
- The Labour Department provides free employment assistance to job seekers through a network of 11 Job Centres, an one-stop employment and training centre called the "Employment in One-stop", two recruitment centres for the catering and retailing industries, the Telephone Employment Service Centre, the Interactive Employment Service Website and vacancy search terminals installed at different locations in the territory. Special employment programmes are tailor-made for the needs of specific groups of job seekers including the youth, the middle-aged and the persons with disabilities. Large-scale and district-based job fairs are organised from time to time to disseminate vacancy information and facilitate job seekers to look for suitable jobs.
- Youth Employment Start (Y.E.S.) provides one-stop employment and self-employment support services to young people aged between 15 and 29. Y.E.S. aims at providing support to young people to start their career on the right track, enhance their employability, facilitate their access to the latest labour market information and help them secure firm footing in the labour market for sustainable development. Services offered by Y.E.S. include career assessment, career consultation and professional counselling, mock interview etc. Y.E.S. often organises different seminars and workshops so that young people can have a better understanding of different industries and their career potential.
- The Government Vacancies Enquiry System of the Civil Service Bureau includes all recruitment advertisements for all government jobs. You can also submit application online. Information regarding qualification assessment, common recruitment examination, etc. is also available on the Civil Service Bureau website.
- The Employees Retraining Board provides a diverse range of courses under the "Manpower Development Scheme", to assist people aged 15 or above with an education attainment at sub-degree or below in Hong Kong to attain recognised qualifications and map out their progression ladder, so that they can adjust to changes in the economic environment, and have their employability enhanced.
