Healthy Life Styles

Eating out is very much a way of life of Hong Kong people. Balanced diet is a key element of a healthy lifestyle for your family members. The EatSmart@restaurant.hk Campaign launched by the Department of Health introduces you to hundreds of "EatSmart Restaurants" which serve healthier choices that are "More Fruit and Vegetables" and "Less oil, less salt and less sugar" (3 Less) Dishes on a regular basis. Look for your favourite restaurants next time you eat out with your family members!

Buying and preparing food healthy and suitable for children at leisure times can also be fun and supportive of children's development of healthy eating habits. Related activities may include promoting consumption of fruit and vegetables, provision and preparation of healthy snacks and meals in the proportion of 3:2:1. Relevant information is available at Department of Health's EatSmart@school.hk Campaign website and StartSmart@school.hk Campaign website.

As a part of the Healthy Exercise for All Campaign, various recreational and sports activities, including those fitness programmes for children, the elderly and people with disabilities, "Hiking Scheme", "Quali-walk Scheme", "Dance for Health" and "Rope Skipping for Fun" etc, are organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) throughout the 18 districts in the territory to facilitate community neighbourhood participation. These programmes, with their emphasis on self-practice and regular workouts, are well received by the public. You can enjoy the fun of exercise with your family members.
